You're so right! It doesn't take away from the meaning of the day... and I've discovered over time that its the trials (like being sick) we have that make certain events or days more memorable... if you'll take it in stride and not let it ruin the whole thing. I hope your son feels better soon!! Its not fun for anyone to be sick at Christmas, but its extra hard when its a child! I hope all turned out okay, and the day was still wonderful!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!!!

I can relate to this one...the changing views of Christmas. We used to go to North Carolina for our Christmases to see my mom's family. I looked forward to it...and the food...every year. Then I got married and Hubby wanted to stay with his aging grandparents, so we did. Then my son was born and my parents wanted to stay North to see him at Christmas. Then yesterday we missed family time all together (except for some breakfast with Hubby's family) because our son has pink eye.

But we hope to find time today to visit with my side of the family, despite the illnesses. And yes, I've had to start laughing at all the weird things that seem to happen on Christmas...one year we all got a stomach flu...that wasn't any fun. Another year I had an ear infection and most years we are broke.

Oh well . . . it can't take away from the meaning of the day and what that means to us all year long. Here's to you having a great rest of the weekend and a Happy New Year!
